There aren’t a lot of builds in the wild as of january 2019. Sure they work fine but rods and bearings are going to be cheaper, heck at that size i'd be considering cheap linear rails if i was building my own.

And what about the model precision. Find out if a linear rail 3d printer is legitimately better or just a marketing sham. Hopefully that won't happen with the linear rails.
It depends on the implementation. The disadvantage to smooth rod inside a printer, is that there is rarely enough room to make the type of anchor point that a smooth rod requires to prevent deflection due to gravity, and the rods are not always upsized to compensate. @yaman the rigidity of the linear rail depends on the rigidity of the member that it's bolted to.
While i'm at it, i started debating moving to the linear rail and mgn15 carriages for the y axis.
